Norbert S. Wolf, D.D.S.

Milwaukee native Norbert S. Wolf, D.D.S., of Glendale died March 22 of pneumonia following complications of surgery performed 10 months ago. He was 93.

He graduated from Washington High School in 1932, Marquette University in 1936 and Marquette University Dental School in 1939. He also took graduate courses at the University of Minnesota, his family said.

He worked as a dentist on the northwest side of Milwaukee for 59 years, retiring at age 83.

He was a founding member of Congregation Shalom and belonged to the Alpha Omega international Jewish dental fraternity. His family said his special interests included reading, Civil War history, baseball, golf, travel, swimming and family.

“During World War II, he was unable to serve in the military, so he volunteered to do dental work for the soldiers and sailors stationed near Milwaukee. He also volunteered at Mount Sinai Hospital at night after working all day,” his family said.

“He loved [Congregation Shalom] and especially the High Holy Days. Most of all he loved his family, friends, neighbors, patients and everyone he knew loved him,” they added.

Preceded in death by brother Bernard Wolf, he is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mildred (nee Polland); daughter Janice (Irv) Berlin of Grafton; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.

Rabbi Shari Shamah officiated at funeral services March 24. Burial was in Second Home Cemetery.

Memorials to Congregation Shalom would be appreciated by the family.
