Nathan Norman Solochek

Longtime Milwaukeean Nathan Norman Solochek, of Glendale, died from pulmonary disease on Jan. 29, in Pembroke Pines, Fla., at the age of 86.

Born in Russia, he graduated from North Division High School in 1935 and earned a civil engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1939.

He owned General Dr afting Corp. until his retirement in 1989.

He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel, the Morris R. Guten Post of the Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A., where he was a past commander; the Zacks; and the Wisconsin Society of Engineers.

According to his family, he enjoyed competition. “He loved golf, bowling, cards and baseball and he especially loved to win,” they said.

Preceded in death by wife Shirley in 1991, he is survived by wife Marion, nee Jacobs; sons Sheldon (Julie) Solochek, of Milwaukee and Marc (Sherri) Solochek of Huntington, W. Va.; daughters Judy (Bruce Jacobson) Solochek of Chicago and Cari (Kevin Holmes) Kuehmichel of Port Washington; stepdaughter Sheri H. (John) Thiede of Oklahoma City; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Rabbi Jacob Herber officiated at graveside services in Mound Zion Cemetery, Feb. 2.
