Former Milwaukeean Mary Kurlander (nee Rochlin) died May 2 in Oviedo, Fla., of complications of Alzheimer’s disease. She was 84.
A Milwaukee native, she lived here until 1977, when she moved to West Palm Beach, Fla., following her marriage to Abbey Kurlander. He died in 1991. In 1999, when she became ill, she relocated to Oviedo, where her daughter Sage Madrone (Gail) Self resides.
In Milwaukee, she was a member of Temple Menorah and a past president of its sisterhood, an officer of B’nai B’rith and a volunteer for many organizations. Her family said that she was a very “high energy and generous person who was always giving and doing for others.”
She is further survived by daughter Karen Sharp of Richmond, Calif.; son Arthur Sharp of Carson City, Nev.; step-sons Neil Kurlander and Judd Kurlander; and five grandchildren. She was previously married to Dr. Bernard Sharp.
Rabbi Isaac Lerer officiated at the funeral on May 7. Burial was in Anshai Lebowitz Cemetery.
