Milwaukee native Marvin (Marve) Garfinkel of Glendale died March 11. He was 82.
He graduated from Washington High School in 1941. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific theater, fighting in the Philippines and at Iwo Jima.
In 1949, he earned a bachelor of science in pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He worked as a pharmacist in Milwaukee for more than 50 years.
He was a member of Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue and of many professional and volunteer organizations.
He is survived by his wife of more than 54 years, Evelyn (Evy) Garfinkel, nee Schulson; sons David Jay Garfinkel of Frederick, Md., and Richard (Susan) Garfinkel of New Berlin; daughter Deborah Lynn Rosen of Mequon; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brother Elias Garfinkel and sister Ida Loebel.
Rabbi Gideon Goldenholz officiated at graveside services at Second Home Cemetery, March 13.
