Former Milwaukeean Lucile Rothstein (nee Berdie) of San Francisco died Oct. 26 at the age of 90.
She was a graduate of Riverside High School and Milwaukee State Teachers College, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in education. She later attended Cardinal Stritch University for further education in teaching reading.
She was a teacher who worked for many years at the Clark Street School. She was a member of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun.
She was especially interested in travel and many different handicrafts, according to her sister, Rosemary Taxman of Milwaukee. “She was a very active gal, always doing something,” said Taxman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Rothstein, who died in a car accident in the 1970s, according to Taxman. In addition to her sister, she is survived by sons Michael (Joyce) Rothstein and Steven Rothstein, both of San Francisco; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Rabbi Dena Feingold officiated at graveside services in Second Home Cemetery on Oct 29.
