Lubars ‘challenge’ community to bolster MJF Campaign 2004

The Milwaukee Jewish Federation has received $100,000 from the Lubar Family to be used as a challenge grant for the Community Campaign 2004.

“We are thrilled by the generosity of the Lubar Family and by what it means to the success of this year’s campaign,” said Penny and Jim Deshur, general campaign chairs, in announcing the grant. This grant will be used to match increases coming into the campaign.

“We hope it will encourage more members of the community to increase their gifts, knowing that the buying power of their increase is being doubled,” the Deshurs added.
David Lubar, the federation’s president-elect, said, “Our objective is to increase the total amount of funds raised by the annual campaign to support the needs of Jews locally, nationally and internationally.

“With that objective, our family is thrilled to provide the grant, which will serve as a catalyst to encourage increased contributions from members of the community.”

“The establishment of this new challenge grant demonstrates the vision and commitment necessary to strengthen our annual campaign,” said Richard H. Meyer, the federation’s executive vice president. He added that he hopes other families would follow the Lubar Family’s example in future years. “The challenge grant is more than a vehicle to motivate increased giving to the campaign. We hope it will serve as a vital appeal to raise the consciousness of our entire community.”
