Jay M. Lieberman

Longtime Bayside resident Jay M. Lieberman, also of Longboat Key, Fla., died on Aug. 18 at the age of 73.

He was born in Chicago and moved to Milwaukee in 1936. He graduated from Whitefish Bay High School in 1951, the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1955 and U.W. Law School in 1958.

He worked as a tax attorney for more than 40 years, first as a partner and head of tax department at Deloitte and Touche and later in private practice.

He was a member of the Estate Counselors Forum, the Tax Club, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, The Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Wisconsin Bar Association and the American Bar Association.

He was a member of Congregation Sinai, served on the board of directors of the Sarasota Jewish Federation and participated in its King David Society, for donors who contribute at least $25,000.

His interests included technology, traveling and playing golf.

He is survived by his wife Joan (nee Kolbur) Lieberman; sister Fagl (Ronald) Oxman of St. Petersburg, Fla.; sons Larry (Karen) Lieberman of Mequon and Ralph (Nancy) Lieberman of Newton, Mass.; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Aug. 20. Rabbi David Cohen officiated. Burial was at Greenwood Cemetery.
