Jay E. Schmidt

Jay E. Schmidt of Bayside died of a brain tumor July 22, 2004. He was 53.

Born in Chicago, he graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in 1973 and earned a law degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1976. He moved to Milwaukee from New Jersey.

He was vice president of real estate investment banking at NorthMarq Capital in Chicago. According to his wife, he was especially interested in music, working on cars (BMWs in particular) and roller-blade skating.

He is survived by wife Sandy Schwade Schmidt of Bayside and son Benjamin Schmidt of Washington D.C. He is further survived by parents Ansel and Dorothy Schmidt of Sarasota, Fl.; sister, Lori (Marc) Jacobson of Mequon; uncle Aaron (Judy) Schmidt of Chicago, mother-in-law Esther Schwade of Glendale, sister-in-law Fran (Dr. Ronald) Meyers of Mequon; and brother-in-law Jim (Karyn) Schwade of Miami.

Rabbi Marc Berkson officiated at funeral services at Congregation Beth Israel July 25. Burial was in Second Home Cemetery.

The family would appreciate memorials to Milwaukee Jewish Day School or Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun.
