Native Milwaukeean Jack Silberman, M.D., of Fox Point, died Feb. 10 at the age of 91 of heart failure.
He was a 1931 graduate of North Division High School and a 1939 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He served as a U.S. Army medic in World War II in North Africa and Europe, and was awarded a Silver Star and two Bronze Stars.
After the war, he attended Chicago Medical School and completed his internship at Cook County Hospital in 1951. He worked as a family practice physician.
He was a member of Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue, the Alpha Rho chapter of Phi Lambda Kappa fraternity and Harmony Masonic Lodge #142.
He is survived by brother Sol Silberman of Des Plaines, Ill.; nephews Dr. Richard (Linda) Silberman of Glendale, Jerome (Sandee) Silberman of Glendale; and David (Deborah) Silberman of Mequon; and niece Leenore (Leonard) Engelhardt of Bayside.
Rabbi Shlomo Pontos and Cantor Jerome Berkowitz officiated at graveside funeral services Feb. 13 in Second Home Cemetery.
