Herman H. Rafalow

Native Milwaukeean Herman H. Rafalow died of natural causes Feb 5. He was 93.
A 1929 graduate of North Division High School, he worked in insurance, advertising, mail order, television sales, real estate and building.

Daughter Diane (Gary) Sobel of Milwaukee said that her father summarized his approach to life when he said to his granddaughter, “Stand tall, shoulders back, walk straight, be a winner, always think of how to make things better.”

“[He] was always thinking of new ideas and better products. He did so always engaging others with his sense of humor and his love of life. Herman loved to have fun,” and was thrilled to become a grandfather, she said.

He was a member of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun and B’nai B’rith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Myers Rafalow, in 1994. In addition to his daughter, he is survived by two grandchildren, both of Milwaukee.

Rabbi Marc Berkson officiated at a graveside service at Mound Zion Cemetery on Feb 8.

Memorial contributions to Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun would be appreciated by the family.
