Helen Berger

Former Milwaukeean Helen Berger of Buffalo Grove, Ill., died Feb. 22 of heart disease. She was 81.

She was born in Lithuania and settled in Milwaukee in 1950 after surviving the Dachau concentration camp. A housewife, she was a member of the New American Club. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by daughter Annie Berger-Kann of Arlington Heights, Ill.; son Joseph (Vicki) Berger of Bayside; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alter Berger, who died in 1995, after which she moved to Buffalo Grove.
Services and burial were held Feb. 24 in Illinois.
