Helen Beck (nee Lubar), formerly of Milwaukee, died July 9 of heart failure in Hollywood, Fla. She was 84.
She was born in Cottage Grove, Wis., and grew up in Shorewood, where she attended high school. She won a scholarship to attend Milwaukee State Teacher’s college, now UWM, where she received a degree in education. In the mid-1960s she received a master’s degree in education from the University of Wisconsin.
She taught school for a number of years and later taught bridge to senior citizens. In addition, she enjoyed playing golf.
Also, she was a supporter and promoter of Harand Theater Camp in Elkhart Lake.
She is survived by her husband, Otto Beck of Hollywood; daughters Ellen (Elliott) Grabriel of Chestnut Hill, Mass., Carol (Dr. Michael) Schatz of San Diego and Lori (Dr. John) Golden of Potomac, Md.; sisters Esther (Archie) Aronin, Sara (Sid) Naimon and Dorothy (Saul) Rapkin; and five grandchildren.
Services and burial were held in Florida.
