Funeral services were held Aug. 15 for Gladys Katz (nee Levine), a resident of the Jewish Home and Care Center. She died Aug. 13 of heart failure at the age of 87.
She was born in Russia and came to the United States when she was six years old. A homemaker and outstanding cook, her life’s passions were her children and grandchildren. She also was interested in current events.
Her family recalled, “She always had a positive outlook and made the best of things no matter what. Her love was unconditional and being around her family made her happy.”
She was a former member of Congregations Beth Jehudah and Beth Israel.
She is survived by sons Howard Katz of Milwaukee and Allen (Ann) Katz of Garden Grove, Calif.; daughter Arlene (Arthur) Arnstein of Glendale; brother Harry (Phyllis) Lensky of Milwaukee; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Her husband, Joseph Katz, died in 1989.
Rabbis Isaac Lerer and Jeffrey Orkin officiated at the funeral. Burial was at Mound Zion Cemetery.
Memorials to the Jewish Home and Care Center or St. Mary’s Hospice would be appreciated by the family.
