Funeral services were held Sept. 6 in Madison for Frieda Epstein (nee Temkin). She died Sept. 5 due to complications of a stroke at the age of 81.
Born in Madison’s Greenbush neighborhood, she graduated from Madison West High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
She was employed at Gimbels Department Store in Madison and had belonged to Beth Israel Center Sisterhood and Hadassah.
She loved cooking and spending time at Ho Chunk Casino with her husband.
She is survived by son Richard (Jacqueline) Epstein of Madison; daughter-in-law Wendy Epstein of Buffalo Grove, Ill.; sister Helen Adler of Madison; sister-in-law Joyce Temkin of Madison; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Marvin J. Epstein, who died in July; and by son Joel Epstein, who died in June.
Rabbi Kenneth Katz officiated at the service.
