Former Milwaukeean Forrest F. Lane died June 2 at the age of 92 in Deerfield Beach, Fla.
Lane graduated from South Division High School in 1927 and attended the American Institute of Banking, completing courses in economics and bank law with honors. Later, he attended the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, majoring in accounting.
He was the office, credit and sales manager and vice president in charge of operations at State Distributing Co., then sales manager at Lappin Electric until he retired to Florida.
He lived in Florida for more than 25 years. He was active in the Democratic Party and in his condominium association, where he said he enjoyed being a “Condo Commando.”
In Milwaukee, he was a member of Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue and Congregation Beth Israel. A Mason for 71 years, he achieved the rank of 32nd Degree and was the youngest member in Excelsior Lodge to be raised as a Master Mason.
He was married to Ida June “Idie” Lane for 58 years. She died in 1996.
He is survived by daughters Marilyn Lane of Mequon and Patricia (Peter Silverman) Lane of Evanston, Ill.; brother Ben (Belle) Lane; sisters-in-law Peg Lane and Gertrude (Jack) Levin; and two grandchildren.
Rabbi Steven Adams officiated at graveside services on June 7 at Second Home Cemetery.
Memorials to the Jos. V. and Anna Levin Fund, c/o the Wisconsin Society for Jewish Learning, would be appreciated by the family.
