Eugene M. Zubatsky

Eugene M. Zubatsky of Shorewood died Aug. 13 at the age of 90.

Founder of Great Lakes Tanning Company, he was an active member of the National Tanners Council. He developed new products for the company, such as a fireproof treatment formula and new dye colors.

According to his family, he “was an avid amateur artist, whose life experiences and love for his family were reflected in his paintings…. dedicated his life to his family and the community.”

A lifelong member of Congregation Beth Israel, he served on the board. He helped to spearhead the relocation of the synagogue from Teutonia Ave. to Green Bay Ave., his family said.

Rabbis Jacob Herber and Herbert Panitch officiated at Aug. 16 funeral services at Congregation Beth Israel. Burial was in Second Home Cemetery.
