Edward Samuel Levin

Edward Samuel Levin of Milwaukee died Sept. 24 at the age of 79.

Born in Milwaukee, Levin graduated from Milton College and the University of Wisconsin School of Law, where he received his doctorate of jurisprudence.

He was in private practice for more than 25 years, specializing in real estate, corporate and personal injury law. He then became president of a small coin-operated laundry business.

From 1994 until his retirement in 2005, Levin served as assistant to the deans of the School of Education and College of Health Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, performing development and public relations duties.

He was a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, as well as the executive secretary of the Wisconsin Psychiatric Association.

Levin was also a member of Temple Menorah.

According to his family, he enjoyed being involved in local, state and national political campaigns, as well as participating in mental health awareness campaigns.

He was preceded in death by his wife Muriel (nee Kesselman) in 2003; and a son, Scot. Survivors include a daughter, Lisa (Tom Greenebaum) Levin, of Avon, Conn.; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sept. 26 at Temple Menorah. Rabbi Isaac N. Lerer officiated. Burial was in Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel Cemetery.
