Edna Lee

Longtime Milwaukeean Edna Lee (nee Kutner), formerly of Whitefish Bay and Glendale, died Jan. 24 of complications from a stroke. She was 86.

She was born and raised in London. She married Lionel Lee, a Canadian soldier stationed there, in 1941, and emigrated to Montreal, Canada, in 1944.

In 1952, they moved to Milwaukee where she worked in a series of retail businesses and then as a manufacturer’s representative. She worked side by side with her husband for many years, her family said.

She was a member of Congregation Shalom and its Sisterhood and Women’s American ORT.

According to her family she was athletic and enjoyed tennis, golf, bowling and walking. She also played mahjong and bridge and loved to sing, dance and play the piano at parties with friends.

“Edna is described by all who knew her as vibrant, bright, cheerful [and] full of ‘get up and go,’” her family said.

Preceded in death by her husband in 1995, she is survived by daughters Sandra Rachmaniel of Jerusalem and Norma (Ian) Gilson of Shorewood; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Rabbi Shari Shamah officiated at graveside services in Mound Zion Cemetery, Jan. 27.

Memorials to Congregation Shalom or to MAZON (a Jewish Response to Hunger), 1990 South Bundy Dr., Suite 260, Los Angeles, CA 90025, would be appreciated by the family.
