Chronicle receives two Simon Rockower Awards

The Wisconsin Jewish Chronicle received two Simon Rockower Awards for Excellence in Jewish Journalism at the 2005 American Jewish Press Association annual conference, held June 21-24 in Boston, Mass.

The Chronicle received first place in the Micro-Circulation Award for Excellence, for newspapers with a circulation under 3,000. Entries were judged on depth and breadth of content, the amount and quality of in-house content, and overall appearance.

Editor Elana Kahn-Oren’s Editor’s Desk columns won a third place Louis Rapoport Award for Excellence in Commentary, for newspapers with a circulation under 15,000.

Also local journalist Andrew Muchin’s article “Rhythm & Blues, Blacks and Jews,” which appeared in Moment Magazine, won first place in the Louis Rapoport Award for Excellence in Arts and Criticism News and Features, for newspapers over 15,000 and magazines.
