Beth Goldsmith Glassner Levine

A local memorial service for Milwaukee native Beth Goldsmith Levine (nee Glassner) will be held on Sunday, June 1, 3:30 p.m., at Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun. She died Feb. 9 in Dallas, Texas, where a service was held on Feb. 16. She was 44.

Born in Milwaukee, she celebrated her bat mitzvah and was confirmed at Emanu-El. She graduated from Nicolet High School in 1975 amd Oberlin College in 1980, and earned a graduate degree at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies in 1982.

She worked as a lobbyist and as a non-profit fundraiser, was involved in consumer research and most recently taught a government class at a Dallas community college.
In addition, she supported many charities and was working to find a cure for mental illness. She had traveled extensively in Israel and Europe and spoke several languages. She was an avid sports fan, following the Texas Rangers, Green Bay Packers, Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars.

Her family said she will be remembered for her sense of humor, warmth and compassion.

She is survived by her husband, Mark Levine of Dallas; her father, William (Carol) Glassner of Grafton; sisters Ruth Glassner-Davis of Saukville, and Katherine (Walter Shwayder) Glassner-Shwayder of Saline, Mich.; brother David Glassner of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; brothers-in-law Mike (Lori) Levine of Laguna Beach, Calif., and Tom (Melanie) Levine of Sacramento; in-laws Stephanie Levine of Ventura, Calif., and George (Shirley) Levine of Marina Del Ray, Calif.; and grandmother Mimi Sachs of Camarillo, Calif. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann Glassner (nee Freschl).
