Former Milwaukeean Benjamin Behar died of cancer June 27 in West Palm Beach, Fla. He was 85.
The son of Bulgarian immigrants, he was born in New York City. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a volunteer for the Israeli military.
He held numerous positions as an entrepreneur throughout his life. While living in Milwaukee from 1949-60, he owned a neighborhood grocery store and tavern and worked as a general contractor.
He is survived by son Mark Behar of Milwaukee, sister Jeanette Mayo of Deerfield Beach, Fla., and partner Doris Goodman of West Palm Beach.
