Audrey Ross

Fox Point resident Audrey Ross (nee Feldstein) died Jan. 15. She was 69.
Born in Chicago, she graduated from Whitefish Bay High School in 1953 and attended the University of Miami. She worked for her family’s business, J.H. Collectibles, in Milwaukee.

According to her family, she came up with the idea for the poodle skirt back in the 1950s for the family company, which was first called Junior House.

A member of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun, she was also active in other organizations, including the Women’s Welfare Board, Mt. Sinai Hospital Auxiliary, the Boys and Girls Club and the Milwaukee Heart Institute. She also was involved in such causes as child abuse prevention and AIDS research and support for art museums in Milwaukee and Palm Beach.

Her hobbies included playing canasta, going to the theatre, attending concerts and “lavishing attention on her children and grandchildren.”

Her husband, Kenneth Ross, died in 1994. She is survived by sons Bruce (Jami) Ross, of River Hills and Richard (Judee) Ross of Mequon; daughter Karen Ross of New York; and five grandchildren.

Rabbis David Cohen and Marc Berkson officiated at services held at Congregation Sinai on Jan. 18. Burial was in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the Make-A-Wish Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
