Milwaukee native Allen J. Sweed of Glendale died of heart failure Feb. 28. He was 74.
A 1952 graduate of Washington High School, he earned a B.A. in art education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He worked as an art teacher at several Milwaukee high schools, according to his family.
He was a member of Beth El Ner Tamid Synagogue. His special interest was oil painting and he was devoted to his family, family members said.
He is survived by sister Lonna Temkin of Michigan City, Ind.; three nieces and a grand-niece.
Cantor Jerome Berkowitz officiated at funeral services March 5. Burial was in Second Home Cemetery.
Memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
