Alice R. Gorell

Alice R. Gorell died Jan. 29 at the Jewish Home & Care Center of complications of a stroke. She was 88.

She was born in Warsaw, Poland, and came to Milwaukee in 1921. She graduated from North Division High School and attended Milwaukee State Teachers’ College. At one time, she owned Gorell’s Cleaners in Waukesha and Village Valet Cleaners in Milwaukee.

A member of Congregation Beth Israel and its Sisterhood, she also belonged to Hadassah. Her interests included traveling, reading and spending time with her family.

She is survived by daughters Judith (John) Worm of Milwaukee and Phyllis Gorell of Bayside; sister Ruth Popuch of Glendale; and two grandchildren. Her husband, Louis Gorell, died in 1961.

Rabbi Shlomo Pontos officiated at the funeral on Jan. 31. Burial was in Second Home Cemetery.
