Lifelong Milwaukeean Alexander Benjamin Magar of Shorewood died Jan. 9 of complications following surgery. He was 72.
He graduated from North Division High School in 1949 and earned an associate degree at Milwaukee Area Technical College in 1952. He worked as a bookkeeper at Equity Co-Op Livestock, T.C. Esser Paint Co. and U.S. Bank Corp.
In his spare time, he volunteered at the Jewish Home and Care Center.
He is survived by his wife, Harriet E. Magar (nee Rubnitz); sons David (Karen) Magar of Elkhart Lake and Larry (Jamee) Magar of Brown Deer; daughter Laurie (David) Streeb of Arlington, Tex.; sister Lola (Donald) Wiesner of Glendale; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Rabbi Steven Adams officiated at the funeral on Jan. 12. Burial was in Anshai Lebowitz Cemetery.
The family would appreciate contributions to the Jewish Home and Care Center Chapel, where he worshipped.
