Project director hired for WSJL Jewish history effort

The Wisconsin Society for Jewish Learning has hired Andrew Muchin as project director of its Wisconsin Small Jewish Communities History Project, which was launched in February 2001. Muchin will coordinate this effort to research, record and recount Jewish history in Wisconsin outside of Milwaukee and Madison.
The multi-year project is mounted in cooperation with the Wisconsin Historical Society, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Ripon College.
Muchin is an award-winning journalist who was editor and co-publisher of Jewish Heartland, a Midwestern Jewish magazine published from 1998-2000; editor of The Chronicle; and assistant editor of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
The project is supported by grants from the Jewish Community Foundation, the endowment development program of the Milwaukee Jewish Federation; and the Kohler Family Foundation, Inc.; as well as private donations.
