Philanthropy consultant creates new foundation

January 11th, 2008

Strategies for Philanthropy, LLC, recently announced the creation of a new grant-making foundation and member organization, the Milwaukee Philanthropic Venture Fund Inc. Susan Stein, president and founder of the company, called the fund “an IPO [initial public offering] with a heart.”

The foundation will focus on the arts, poverty, the environment and education. It will be funded by members who donate a minimum of $100,000 a year to non-profit organizations, with at least 80 percent of the donations going to Milwaukee-based organizations, Stein told the Business Journal.

She added that since its creation last month, the foundation has received $500,000 in commitments.
