Blumenfeld tapped for volunteer award

Madisonian Kathy Blumenfeld , a native of Milwaukee, was named the 2007 recipient of the Madison Jewish Community Council ’s Ben Minkoff Volunteer Service award.
The award, named in memory of former MJCC president and founder of Camp Shalom Ben Minkoff , is presented annually to an individual with an exemplary record of service to the MJCC and the Madison Jewish community over a number of years.
Blumenfeld began her volunteer service in Madison while a student.
After settling in Madison she continued volunteering for many local organizations, eventually assuming leadership positions, including chair of the MJCC Annual Campaign. She is currently an MJCC vice president and chair of the strategic planning committee.
Blumenfeld has, at the same time, pursued a career as a certified public accountant, working for CUNA Mutual. Prior to that she worked for a U.S. Senator, a governor and a Wisconsin state senator.
The award was presented by MJCC president Lester Pines at the organization’s annual meeting on Nov. 4.
