Shimon-Rutland

Rachel Leah Shimon and Philip Jon Rutland were married Sept. 1 at Congregation Shalom and Hilton Milwaukee City Center. Rabbi Ronald Shapiro officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Nancy and Howard Shimon of Mequon. Rachel graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a degree in communications/advertising in 2002. She is employed by Modern Healthcare Magazine/Crain Communications.

The groom’s parents are Brina and Gary Rutland of Schaumburg, Ill.
Philip graduated from Indiana University with a degree in business administration/marketing in 2002. He works for Neustar Ultra Services as a technology sales account manager.

The maid of honor was Amy Pomerantz of Brown Deer. The bridesmaids were Kathy Brown, Maggie Conner, Jessica Gaffud and Elvin Yavuz, all of Chicago; and Christina Garthwait, Becky Post and Lyzz Welter, all of Milwaukee.

The best man was Justin Rutland of Schaumberg. The groomsmen were Jerry Brown, Greg DeKalb, Mike Faurest, Brian Gaffud and Jake Zych, all of Chicago; and Ben Shimon and Jake Shimon, both of Milwaukee.

After a wedding trip to Amsterdam and Italy, the couple resides in Chicago.
