Shalom hires new associate rabbi

Congregation Shalom has hired Rabbi Joseph W. Prass as its new associate rabbi beginning July 1. Prass comes from Temple Emanu-El in Houston, where he served as assistant and then associate rabbi for a total of eight years.

Born in Minneapolis, Prass graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 1991. He was ordained at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati in 1999.

Prass has experience in all areas of youth work and has held several positions in the National Federation of Temple Youth.

He is married to the former Leslie Wise of Chicago and they have three children.
