Adelmans receive national award

September 29th, 2006

Fox Point residents Edie and Albert “Ollie” Adelman were awarded the 2006 Wright Spirit Award, on Saturday, Sept. 16, from the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy. The award was presented at the Conservancy’s annual Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony in Detroit.

The Adelmans commissioned the renowned architect to design a home for them in 1946. Sixty years later, they are among the last of Wright’s clients still living in their original home. Recently, the U.S. Department of the Interior named it to the National Register of Historic Places.

The Adelmans have also contributed valuable Wright drawings, letters and designs to the Milwaukee Art Museum.
