Camp Ramah’s Rabbi Soloff to be honored by JTS

Former Milwaukeean Lasday to become CAJE director

Jeffrey Lasday, formerly of Milwaukee, has been named executive director of the Coalition for the Advancement of Jewish Education (CAJE), in New York City. He will assume the position on Jan. 1 next year.

He worked for the Milwaukee Association for Jewish Education (MAJE) from 1985-1991. While at MAJE, he served in the roles of curriculum specialist, director of the Chavurot Noar High School program and assistant executive director.

Currently serving as the executive vice president of St. Louis Central Agency for Jewish Education, he was previously founding director of the Columbus Commission on Jewish Education.

Rabbi David Z. Soloff, director of Camp Ramah, in Conover, Wis., for the past 31 years, will be this year’s recipient of the Jewish Theological Seminary’s Rabbi Simon Greenberg Rabbinic Achievement Award.

The award is presented to rabbis who have demonstrated unwavering loyalty to JTS and outstanding devotion to klal Yisrael (Jewish unity) and to all humanity.

Soloff is the co-chair of the Midwest Jewish Camp Directors’ Association and chair of its education committee.

The award will be presented at the JTS 2006 Midwest Annual Awards Dinner on Thursday, May 25, at the Fairmount Chicago.
