Bar-Lev to be ordained

May 2nd, 2008

Milwaukee native Benjy Bar-Lev will graduate from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Ohio, next month. He will be ordained on May 31 at a ceremony at Plum Street Temple in Cincinnati.

A graduate of Nicolet High School and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Bar-Lev wrote his thesis on the history of Congregation Shalom as a microcosm for the growth and change of the Reform movement, the changes in the role of the rabbi, and the suburbanization of America.

Bar-Lev has accepted the position of assistant rabbi at Temple Beth Shalom in New Albany, Ohio.
