Dorothy Marks

Former Milwaukeean Dorothy Marks (nee Kayser) died April 18 in West Lafayette, Ind., after a brief illness. She was 90.

She was born in New York City and graduated from Atlantic City High School and Rider College.

She and her late husband, Dr. Morton G. Marks, came to Milwaukee in 1950 from Omaha. She worked as a secretary in the Shorewood Public Schools business office, where she also taught business education.

She belonged to Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun and later Temple Israel in West Lafayette. In addition, she was a member of Women’s American ORT and a volunteer at Lafayette Home Hospital. Her interests included reading, knitting, ceramics, needlepoint, travel and playing bridge.

She is survived by son Dr. Norman Marks of Gaithersburg, Md.; daughter Phyllis (Sherman) Winski of Lafayette; daughter-in-law Bobbie Marks (nee Ansfield) of Evanston, Ill; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Bernard Marks, and in 1967 by her husband.

Rabbi Shari Shamah officiated at graveside services on April 21 at Mound Zion Cemetery.

The family suggested memorials to the Temple Israel Foundation Fund Inc. or its Landscape Fund, 620 Cumberland Ave., West Lafayette, IN 47906.
