Jerome D. Grant

Longtime Milwaukee attorney Jerome D. Grant of Brown Deer died Feb. 7. He was 78.
He was born in Milwaukee and graduated from Washington High School in 1942. He continued his studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he earned a bachelors degree in 1946; and at Marquette University, where he received his law degree in 1948 and a masters degree in 1967.
An attorney in private practice for 52 years, he was also a professor of political science at Marquette University in the 1960s.
He was a member of the American and Wisconsin bar associations, University of Wisconsin and Marquette University alumni associations, and Harmony Masonic Lodge. He was also active in the Wisconsin Democratic Party.
He belonged to Congregation Shalom and was a charter member of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. He was dedicated to Jewish and Zionist causes, and lived and worked in Israel from 1983-86.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Grant (nee Brody); daughters Pamela (Eduard) Lager of Milwaukee, Francine Grant of Milwaukee and Sandra (Stephen) Silver of Orlando, Fla.; sister Dr. Rita (Leonard) Newman of Pompton Plains, N.J.; brother Sidney Grant of St. Paul, Minn.; and six grandchildren.
Rabbi Shari Shamah officiated at the funeral on Feb. 9. Burial was in Mound Zion Cemetery.
