Candle for peace

Hadas David (left) and Yael Huber, the current Milwaukee Shin Shin (Shnat Sherut Shlishit, third year of service) volunteers from Israel, lit a candle for peace as part of the 2012 Yom HaZikaron (Israel Memorial Day) program on April 25. Some 400 people attended the event at the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center. The event particularly commemorated non-Jewish Israelis — like keynote speaker Major Ismail Kablan, a Druze in the Israeli air force — and Diaspora Jews serving in Israel’s armed forces.
