Perlanne Bruskin

July 31st, 2010

Perlanne Bruskin, nee Druch, of Mequon died of cancer on Dec. 31. She was 88.

She was born in Sheboygan in 1921 and graduated from Milwaukee’s South Division High School. She earned her undergraduate degree and teaching certification at Wisconsin State Teacher’s College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

She worked as a kindergarten teacher in the Fox Point-Bayside school system for many years. She and her husband Irwin were founding members of Congregation Shalom.

She was a member of Women’s American ORT, Hadassah, and the National Council of Jewish Women. She also liked to play mahjong, and she was active in synagogue life in both Milwaukee and Florida.

After she and her husband retired and moved to Florida in 1990, they lived in first Delray Beach, then Boynton Beach. They became members of Temple Sinai in Delray Beach.

Her husband died in 1999, and she returned to the Milwaukee area the following year.

She is survived by daughter Holly (Sid) Williamson of Glendale; son Barry (Felice) Bruskin of Bayside; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral service took place Jan. 3, at Goodman Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home. Rabbi Ronald Shapiro officiated. Burial was in Mound Zion Cemetery. A stone dedication was scheduled to be held July 25.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Congregation Shalom or the charity of the donor’s choice.
