Rosalyn “Roz” Matsoff (nee Chitlik) of Mequon died Jan. 10 at age 86 of leukemia.
Rosalyn was born in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1923 and moved in 1925 to Milwaukee, where she attended Washington High School, graduating in 1941. She studied speech therapy at Marquette University.
A member of Congregation Beth Israel, she worked as senior vice president at her husband’s women’s apparel store, Esther’s of Hartford.
“Her specialty was being a mother and grandmother,” said Julian Matsoff, her husband of 67 years. “She was something else.”
In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed gardening.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters Shelly (Lanny) Polansky of Mequon and Rosie Barbara (Malvin) Finkelstein of Eugene, Ore.; sister Elaine (Claude) Steinberger of Mequon; and one grandson.
Burial was at the Second Home Cemetery. Rabbi Jacob Herber officiated. Blane Goodman Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
