Miriam Galin Paley
February 12th, 2009
Miriam Galin Paley of Glendale died of natural causes on Jan. 19. She was 94.
Born in Albany, Wis., she graduated from Beloit High School in 1932. She worked as a school secretary at Pleasant View School in Milwaukee.
Her husband, David Paley, died in 1963, when she was 48.
“She was a strong, independent woman who never gave up,” her daughter Joann (Dr. Jay Galst) Paley Galst, Ph.D., of New York City wrote to The Chronicle. “She held everything together after her husband’s early and untimely death and worked hard so her daughter could have opportunities that she never had when young,” Paley Galst wrote.
Paley especially enjoyed bridge, travel, bowling and golf and shared athletic ability and a love of playing sports with her grandson, David Paley Galst.
Goodman-Bensman Whitefish Bay Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Rabbi Yitzchak Berman officiated at graveside services on Jan. 25 in Second Home Cemetery.
The family appreciates memorial contributions to the Milwaukee Jewish Federation, Alzheimer’s Foundation of America or the charity of the donor’s choice.
