Artist Kupferminc returns for MIAD exhibit

Argentine Jewish artist Mirta Kupferminc will be part of an exhibit, “Personal Culture: New Art from Latin Americans,” at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design Jan. 16 - March 21. The exhibit will be on view during a reception at Gallery Night, Friday, Jan. 16, 5-9 p.m.

She will speak at the Artist Talk and Reception on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 7 p.m. As the Guido Brink Visiting Artist, she will hold a public lecture at MIAD on Thursday, Feb. 26, 7 p.m.

All events are free and will take place at the Frederick Layton Gallery, 273 E. Erie St. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Kupferminc was in Milwaukee November 2007 to teach at MIAD. In September 2008, she showed her work and spoke at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

The child of Holocaust survivors, Kupferminc is a printmaker, painter and book and installation artist. Her work embodies her family history.
