Nicolet teens on BBYO International Board

For the first time in 14 years, the Wisconsin Region has a member on the BBYO International Board.

Actually, make that two members. Both from Nicolet High School.

Liam McLean and Blair Wales, both Nicolet juniors, have both joined the 12-member board.

McLean has been elected a grand aleph shaliach (vice president of Judaic enrichment and community service) for the BBYO International Board. Wales has been appointed to her spot, after going through an application process. She becomes the first-ever International Gizborit chair and will work with finances, budgeting and fundraising.

Blair Wales will join other high school juniors and seniors – from the District of Columbia, San Francisco and elsewhere – on the 12-member BBYO International Board.

“I feel extremely honored to have been appointed to this position,” Wales said, adding that she seeks to be a “trailblazer.”

“I’m looking forward to making a financial difference that will truly strengthen our global Jewish community,” Wales said.

McLean was selected at the BBYO International Convention 2018. The convention was held in Orlando, Florida from Feb. 15-19. Fifty-one teens from BBYO’s Wisconsin region attended the convention, with more than 5,000 people in attendance.

“The Wisconsin Jewish community has always been so supportive and influential for me,” McLean said. “They’ve propelled me towards this great opportunity.”
