Deborah Carter Berkson dies at 67

MILWAUKEE – Deborah Carter Berkson died Feb. 10, 2018. She was 67.

She is survived by her husband, Rabbi Marc Berkson of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun in River Hills, and other family.

A funeral service was held Feb. 13 at CEEBJ. Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun Food Bank Fund (Ceebj.org), Grand Avenue Club (GrandAvenueClub.org), or The Center for Holocaust and Humanity (HolocaustandHumanity.org).

Caron M. Rice, remembered at WITS

MILWAUKEE – Caron M. Rice (nee Karas), director of operations for 19 years at The Wisconsin Institute for Torah Study, died Feb. 5, 2018.

She is survived by husband Michael S. Rice and other friends and family.

A funeral service was held Feb. 6, with internment at Beth Hamedrosh Hagodel Cemetery in Milwaukee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are appreciated to the Wisconsin Institute for Torah Study, 3288 North Lake Drive, Milwaukee, WI 53211.

Rabbi Wachsman, WITS founder, dies

MILWAUKEE – Rabbi Raphael Wachsman, a founder of the Wisconsin Institute for Torah Study, died Feb. 6, 2018.

A funeral was held Feb. 8 in Jerusalem.

Rabbi Wachsman is remembered for supreme devotion to the yeshiva and its talmidim, following the progress of each student. He set and implemented the educational philosophy and oversaw the various departments of the high school, having a profound influence on everyone he came in contact with.
