Did you serve in Israel Defense Forces?

MILWAUKEE Yom HaZikaron event planners are seeking people in Wisconsin who have served in the Israel Defense Forces, to provide information to students before the spring community remembrance ceremony.

Yom HaZikaron, the Israeli remembrance day, will be marked in April in the Milwaukee area with a ceremony at the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center in Whitefish Bay. The event is co-sponsored by the JCC and Milwaukee Jewish Federation.

People who’ve served in the Israel Defense Forces are needed to speak with students in the months beforehand about what it was like to serve. Reports will be shared in some way at the Yom HaZikaron event.

“Just as it is important for us to honor and talk to members of the U.S. military, especially as the greatest generation is dying out, it is so important that our students and our community show appreciation for former members of the IDF and that we hear their stories and bear witness,” said Tziporah Altman-Shafer, Jewish education community planner for the Federation.

If you’ve served in the IDF, contact Altman-Shafer at 414-963-2718 or TziporahA@MilwaukeeJewish.org.
