Paul D. Lawent
Paul D. Lawent of Hoffman Estates, Illinois died April 10, 2017. He was 74.
He was born March 16, 1943 in Milwaukee.
He graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee in 1961.
Colleges included University of San Francisco, University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Marquette University Law School, where he earned his law degree in 1967. He studied journalism as an undergraduate.
He was a member of Beth Tikvah in Hoffman Estates. He worked as an attorney in government and the private sector. Organizations included the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Illinois Bar.
He is survived by Lisa Lawent (nee Ritter), daughter Heather and brothers Peter Lawent and Allen Lawent. Place of burial was Waldheim Cemetery in Forest Park, Illinois on April 14, 2017.
Theodore Bradbury of Glendale died May 20. He was 89.
At Congregation Sinai he was Brotherhood president.
Beloved husband of Barbara Bradbury (nee Siegel). Dear father of Gregory (Rachel) Bradbury, Marjorie (Matthew) Laing and the late Sabrina Bradbury.
Graveside services were Sunday, May 21, at Greenwood Cemetery, 2615 W. Cleveland Ave., Milwaukee. Memorial gifts to the Ovation Jewish Home and Care Center are appreciated. Shiva was private.
Steven Howard Durchslag
Steven Howard Durchslag of Fredonia died March 24, 2017. He was 49.
Durchslag battled mental illness along with physical challenges all of his life. Although non-communicative the past 40 years, he was involved in an art program through Studio 84 in Whitewater as an outlet to help him express himself. His collection of artwork was displayed a few years ago at a public gallery showing.
He was born Nov. 19, 1961. Son of Elaine (née Gould) and Ronald Durchslag (zl). Brother of Phillip and Marie Durchslag. Brother of Rachel Durchslag and Paul Greenspan.
The funeral was March 28, 2017, with Goodman Bensman and Second Home. Rabbi David Cohen of Congregation Sinai and Hazzan Jeremy Stein of Congregation Beth Israel Ner Tamid officiated.

Wisconsin native Debra Goodman-Smith of San Francisco died March 23. She was 72.
She passed away unexpectedly after knee surgery on a broken knee.
A graduate of Whitefish Bay High School and University of Wisconsin–Madison, she was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom in San Francisco.
She worked in social work with Jewish agencies in the greater Bay area, including Jewish Family & Children’s Services. Organizations included Tenderloin Outreach Shabbat luncheons for seniors, Be the Wheels, Senior Companions and JCFS CanineCorps.
Burial was at Home of Peace, Colina, California on March 26.

She is survived by spouse Peter Smith, daughter Nora Smith and brothers Martin (Miriam) and Steven (Lauren) Goodman.
